Balcony Garden – Early Girl Tomatoes Update, Again

 

I harvested my first tomatoes since planting nearly 2 months ago and this is what I got:

What's up with that?

I water them daily (almost) they have Miracle Grow soil. Why are the bottoms perpetually green? I can only assume lack of sunlight. Someone told me I should talk to my plant. I tried but I did not know what to say. lol

Maybe I will just read to it. Does anyone know if tomatoes like Zora Neale Hurston.

Early Girl Tomatoes Update – I See Red!

Yes my tomatoes are nearly ripe. The tops are red but the bottoms are green. There is nothing like seeing the fruits of your labor. It is so rewarding.

I am so ready to start a full balcony garden. I just dont't know about space. These tomatoes have a span of about 2.5 ft. I think I am going to do it anyway. No excuses.

So what do you guys think?

Balcony Garden – Early Girl Tomatoes Update

It has only been two weeks and there are budding flowers on my tomato plant. Oh my gosh, I could cry.

Overkill?

After watering every morning faithfully and seeing nothing it rains. The natural H2O must have done the trick because the next day – voila!

I may need to up my watering from 16 oz a day to 32 oz.

I did it! I created my first project in my balcony garden. I got extra inspired by this documentary on PBS about urban food growers. Ah, PBS, you got me again.

I got this Bottoms Up tomato grower for like $2.00 so I decided to give it a try. If it fails, it is still just 2 bucks right? Follow the pictures my friends:
