My Jogging Scare

I was feeling really ambitious today. I decided to push my limit and jogged continuously for about twenty minutes. I ignored the strained muscles in my legs and feet and kept it moving. The more I ran the easier it became.

After about twenty minutes, I walked it out the rest of the way. Total time about 45-minutes.

What happened next was kind of scary. I felt really lethargic. I had eaten breakfast hours earlier, just oatmeal. I took a shower after running and forgot to eat lunch. Bad idea.

I felt really sleepy so I took a nap. I was so tired I found it difficult to get up. I don't know if you have ever experienced this but I was kind of half-sleep and half-awake but could not open my eyes.

So I prayed, God help me to wake up. I woke up and ate something immediately.

I am guessing my blood sugar was super low, IDK. I just know I will make sure to eat before and after a strenous workout.

Thank God for prayer. It really works.

  1. I would take it a step at a time; try and increase your workouts in increments and you should be okay 🙂

A friend sent me a runners site called coolrunnings.com. The article I read basically said what you are suggesting. I need to go about this running the correct way.

  3. If you want to get cardio and work out; get some 5lb weights; and do lunges and or squats to the corner and back; you will probably burn as many calories as you would running; but you would be working out more parts of your body. (I work out with a PT 3-4 times a week; and those are the tricks he gives me when I am short on time.

  4. Hey with the fitness program I am doing with Jason he says eating 5 to 6 times a day while working out is critical. You have to constantly feed your body. Keep up the good work but slow it down a bit and take care of yourself. I’m glad God was with you.

One of my goals is to actualy run a marathon or something. I am trying build endurance as well as get in shape. I thought about using the weights on my trail though.

I spoke to a few people and the concensus is I did too much with too little feul. I will try to do the 6 times a day. I have lost like ten pounds total sense starting. That’s a lot, though I am not complaining.lol

I have to be more focused too. Thanks for the info.

It happens you have to be careful with running and jogging. There’s like this all regime with the warm up and cool downs for stretching and also the eating of light meals helps.

I think that’s why I’m having this tingling sensation in my right leg. I exercised once last week on Saturday, running 3 miles in a little over 30 minutes but I really didn’t do a good warm up and so I thought sense I did a pretty good cool down routine that I would be okay. Well, that wasn’t so smart. I have an abs and weights class today so that should help with the stretching of the muscles in my leg. I try to change up my workout routine to excerise the entire body but I guess consistency is the key.

  8. Hi Taulas friend,
You are probably right about your warm up. I like to stretch then do about 5 sometimes 10 minutes of light walking so that my muscles are nice and warm You are also right about the consistency part. Pick days to work out a week in advance and no matter what stick to it. There are some nights I don’t get home until 8pm but I make myself stick to my workouts. Best of luck to you. We can all do this together with a little encouragement from each other.
