Was the movie Baby Boy intended to be a comedy, because every time me and my family watched it we cracked up nonstop?

Taraji Henson was the quintessential ‘baby mama’ and Jody the poster child for momma’s boys. Snoop Dogg’s hair alone was gut-buster worthy. I am pretty sure there was a message in there somewhere but the sound of my laughter drowned it out.
