Sadly, in two days the world has lost two icons of entertainment, comedian Bernie Mac and soul composer Isaac Hayes.

Mac died 8/9/08 from complications of pneumonia. He is best known as the frustrated dad on The Bernie Mac Show. Mac hails from Chicago and truly embodies the rags-to-riches success story. He worked stand up on the el trains as a youth. You can’t get more rags than that.

Hayes’ career has spanned 40 years and is marked by many notable successes. He won both a Grammy and an Academy Award for the, "Theme From Shaft" in 1971. He died today 8/10/2008. You can read more about his life here.

What’s even more eerie about these two deaths occurring back to back is the fact that Hayes and Mac had just recently completed a film together entitled, "Soul Men" with Samuel Jackson.
