Linear Mathematics or Divine Order

I am currently taking Operations 6305 as I lumber toward my MBA. In this great book, The Goal by Eliyahu M. Goldratt, that I am reading for the class the character laments about the state of his manufacturing plant. He can’t control the dependent events and statistical fluctuations, or so it seems.(I haven’t finished yet.)Now a dependent event means that an event or series of events must take place before another can begin. So the last event is dependent on the prior ones. Statistical fluctuations are situations that we cannot accurately predict/control.

I know what your thinking, "What the heck are you talking about?" Well, I have gone through some major changes in my life in the past year or so that has lead me to this point where I am writing to you. I literally stepped out on faith and moved to Texas. I thought out the process, transferred my job, found housing (dependent) events. I had no idea of the series of events that would follow. My job here was pure chaos. Crazy coworkers, crazy management, etc. (statistical fluctuations). I decided to leap again, resign and complete my MBA.

All the while, I had been praying to God for a sign. I REALLY wanted to write but had no idea how to get started. Now with no job and my days free, I could write. Write I did. Long story short, I was thinking/meditating/praying about my book, when my best friend from high school pops into my head. I go on the website for finding schoolmates and locate her. After a full week, she writes back and sends me her number. I call her and leave a message and hear nothing. Finally, she calls back and guess what? She is completing her master’s in PUBLISHING!!! In our next conversation, I garner up enough nerve to tell her about my book. She asks for a sample. Bada Bing Bada Boom. She agrees to publish my first novel.

I think about this as I read The Goal. Too bad for those in the secular world who don’t understand divine order. Just when I started to doubt my bold move as my job life fell apart, God provided a "ram in the bush."

Sometimes dependent event’s plus statistical fluctuations can just be "Divine Order" disguised.

  1. Amen. brother.
It hasn’t been easy but since I have rededicated my life to God and asked Jesus into my life, I have seem some miraculous things happen.
    I’ll keep the blog updated!!!

  2. Hello,
I followed your instructions and I do like your blog. The Modest Genius is quite famous over here and the students make an effort to check out his blog (movie reviews especially) just about everyday.
I will put a link to your blog on my blog later this week.
Hang in there and let’s pray for each other.
    Bri
